Contributor & Designer Terms

Terms for Stitchfolk designer applications and pattern submissions, including original-work warranties, publication rights, attribution, takedown, payouts, and the 10% platform commission.

Baseline legal information — not legal advice

These documents describe Stitchfolk's current product and site practices as a starting point for legal review. They are not jurisdiction-specific legal advice.

Effective September 10, 2026.

These Contributor & designer marketplace terms apply when you apply to the Stitchfolk designer program, submit a pattern, or provide creator content for publication. They supplement the Terms of Service and preserve your ownership of work you create, subject to the licence you grant below.

1. Eligibility and account

You must provide accurate information, have authority to submit the work, and be able to enter the agreement that applies where you live. Approval is discretionary and does not guarantee publication, sales, or future acceptance.

Keep your email and payment/tax information current when requested.

Do not submit another person's pattern, a copied chart, or work subject to a conflicting exclusive licence.

You remain responsible for permissions, releases, and third-party materials in your submission.

2. Submission and review

Submit only work you want Stitchfolk to review under these terms. The operator may request edits, technical details, sample files, image rights, or proof of authorship before deciding whether to publish.

A submission is not public or approved merely because it was uploaded.

Stitchfolk may decline, pause, edit for formatting or safety, or return a submission for revision.

The review process does not transfer ownership to Stitchfolk.

The submission form and pattern-submit action show a rights acknowledgement before the app accepts the relevant action.

3. Licence to publish and distribute

You grant Stitchfolk a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-bearing licence to host, reproduce, format, display, market, sell, distribute, and make available your approved submission as part of the Stitchfolk marketplace and related promotion. The licence lasts while the work is published and for a reasonable wind-down period after withdrawal or removal.

The licence covers the pattern file, listing text, images, name, and approved attribution supplied with the submission.

Stitchfolk may make technical or accessibility changes that do not materially change the creative work, and may create previews or thumbnails.

You may continue to use, license, and publish your work elsewhere unless you separately agree to exclusivity in writing.

Stitchfolk may retain limited archival copies for transaction, safety, legal, and dispute records.

4. Attribution and promotion

Stitchfolk will use the designer or contributor name and attribution information you provide, subject to reasonable formatting, privacy, and safety needs.

You may provide a public display name instead of a legal name where the workflow allows.

Stitchfolk may show your name, pattern title, images, and approved biography on marketplace or promotional pages.

Tell us if an attribution detail is wrong or creates a safety concern.

5. Withdrawal and removal

You may ask Stitchfolk to withdraw an unpublished submission or remove an approved listing by contacting the operator. Requests are reviewed against active orders, customer access, legal obligations, and the need to preserve a safe marketplace.

Removal is prospective where practical and does not automatically cancel licences already granted to buyers.

Stitchfolk may remove or pause a listing for quality, safety, inactivity, business, legal, infringement, or policy reasons.

A withdrawal request is not a substitute for the Copyright & takedown process when someone else owns the rights.

6. Moderation and takedown

You warrant that your submission is original or properly licensed, does not infringe copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or other rights, and does not contain unlawful or harmful material. Stitchfolk may investigate reports, restrict visibility, remove material, or suspend a contributor while it reviews a concern.

Provide accurate authorship and permission information when asked.

Respond promptly to a rights, safety, or customer-support question about your submission.

The Copyright & takedown policy explains the information requested for an infringement report and the owner-review process.

7. Platform commission and designer share

For marketplace sales that use the contributor programme's configured split, Stitchfolk retains 10% as the platform commission and the designer share is 90% of the applicable net basis. This language is aligned with the code-backed PLATFORM_TAKE_RATE = 0.1; it does not guess taxes, payment-provider charges, refunds, or other deductions that the owner must define.

The product, payout, refund, and ledger records determine the sale to which a split applies.

Any owner-approved change to the take rate should update both the code and this policy before it is used.

8. Payouts, refunds, and chargebacks

Designer payouts are issued monthly via Stripe to the designer's payout account on file.

Payment disputes, including chargebacks and reversals, are reviewed within 48 hours of receipt. Where a refund is warranted — for example, duplicate charges, undelivered digital products, or materially defective files — it is issued to the original payment method. Buyers are encouraged to contact bill@aitoolsfortoday.com before filing a chargeback so the issue can be resolved directly.

A reversed, refunded, fraudulent, or charged-back sale may reduce or reverse a pending or future designer share.

Stitchfolk may delay a payout while a transaction, identity, rights, or safety issue is reviewed.

The app does not promise a payout date or a particular payment provider in this baseline.

9. Taxes and records

Designers who sell patterns through Stitchfolk are independent contractors, not employees of Stitchfolk or AI Tools for Today, LLC. Designers whose earnings meet IRS reporting thresholds will be issued a Form 1099. Each designer is responsible for reporting their own income and meeting their own tax obligations.

10. Contact
